It's been a good 6 months, though, and I'm really looking forward to the new school year.
I've already gotten started on studying; we received our first case several weeks ago, and orientation started last friday. I'm in the problem-based learning classes, so instead of lectures and lectures, and then lectures, we get cases to "solve" each week or so. It's largely self-directed, which I think will be an important skill that I'll need to have later on. I'm not... terrible at it by any means, but it'll be interesting to take greater charge of my own learning.
Actually, a lot of grad school was like that, except that I was never as enthusiastic about learning as I am now. I had a lot of fun picking up papers and reading through them, but they never really had the oomph that tearing through a medical textbook does right now. I hope it stays this way (it won't, probably), and that I keep up with the material well enough (I will, maybe).
I never did talk much about the application experience, which is what this blog's second purpose was supposed to be, but I think I might change the focus to just talking (complaining) about med school stuff and talking about food stuff as best I can. It's a little harder to do grand stuff like food tours and the like, but I'll see what I can keep up. Anything to break old habits and get myself away from playing video games and watching TV as a fallback for procrastination.
So yeah. It's a new chapter, new beginnings, same old cliches, but I might make something of this blog yet (Probably not). Moving forward is good.
